ok, i got a 2.5l rc dak that my parents got me when i turned 16, now i am 19 and this thing jst ain't cuttin it. No room to store anything that can't be exposed in the bed. No power. no room to carry friends. no gas mileage. so i have decided now that i am working to get rid of it and buy a car. I am trying to decide between a used civic si (1998-2000), chevy cavalier z24 (1999-2002), or 2002 neon r/t if i can find one. which of these do you guys suggest? the ones i have found (haven't found a used 2002 neon rt)so far ranging from 5000-12000, dependig on mileage and year. i really want a civic si, but they are the most expensive of the three.

For modding and availability of aftermarket parts, get the Civic. For impressing like minded trailerpark dwellers, get the Cadavalier. For repelling chicks except for fat quads in wheel chair, get the Neon.

I'd go with the Civic too. Better quality and more reliable. Just look around. Everybody makes aftermarket parts for any Honda. You might find a few body parts for Neons and Cavs but 0 engine parts. The Honda also makes more power right off the bat and handles and looks better.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Dodge guy but realistically, I'd never buy a Neon and wouldn't touch a Cav over a Civic.

Any way about your choices...hers my 2 cents worth..
Several things here...First before you buy spend a couple of nights in E bay motors...Once your in the make of car like plymouth or honda etc. you can choose your model from the left. I have found some very awsome deals on newer cars..I almost bought a 2000 neon for pennies on the dollar but insurance check has not arived....OK now for a surprise....I have severl sundances with the 2.2. I have played around with them long enough to know working on these little plymouths are easy and parts are simple to find...I had a guy in a civic all souped up giving me a hard time one day and I got just a tad ticked so I nailed mine. we were going up a steep grade verry curvy 2 lane road...He could not get me off his bumper to save his life...Sure I can drive and used this to help but still you dont need a honda or mitsubishy to have fun...Try and find the v6 or 2.5 in a neon or aclaim...They can amaze you..I love chevys but not this new little stuff....Just take your time...enjoy...

Hate to say it but I had my fill of american built cars back when I was your age.
I went and bought a Colt turbo and had so much reliable fun it should have been illegal.

I have to admit that Jap cars are price'er because they are worth it. They do hold together longer and the industry has realized it thats why they have higher selling price and higher resale.

if you could get a SRT4 I would say do it just for the shear fun of it but if not Im guessing you want a reliable fun car that can be mod'd and chicks dont think is trash like a Spirit (n offense Jimmy, Spirit R/T's are fast as hell).

The Civic is your all round best bet, yes even used it'll cost you a bit more but parts are cheaper like Chebbies, available everywhere and I hate to say it but the young chicks dig em.

Good luck with whatever you get and be safe.

LOLOL...NO OFFENCE TAKEN !!
There are alot of cars faster and the sundance was not my first choice. My first one a 91 was given to me for free (hard to say no) when your walking...Then I bought my second one(93) for 500
bucks from the same person.
Hey could I get away simple like if I pulled a 2.5 out of a dakota and stuck in a 6 ? I think it is a 3 speed...again not much power but it is an estate sale and I have first dibs. No rust solid and runs good. 500 bucks drive home. but a 2.5 in a mid sise truck...scares me...
take care
