Message: O.K. I know this has been an on-going debate, but my truck goes into the stealership Thursday for new fluids in both axles of my 2K 4x4 CC. Do I go with Synthetic in the rear, or just go with the standard fluid? Sticking with standard up front as reccomended by dealer, but have not made up mind about rear yet. Been having some moaning sounds out of axles so hoping this will fix it. Waiting to see what kind of wisdom I get before deciding Thursday morning. Any advice is welcome, thanks guys.

Message: Go with synthetic. Specially with the rear axle. Better protection, better fuel economy and maybe even a horsepower out of it, just because it's working more efficiently. I would recommend it for everything. It's a fact that synthetic is way better than coventional, so why not change. The brand of oil to use, I leave up to you. I've used Mobil 1 on my engine and rear axle. I'm using Amsoil on my engine right now and tomorrow I'm switching everything else over to Amsoil. Hope this helps. Oh by the way, most of the dealerships don't have a clue when it comes to maintenance issues.

Message: Just had my front and rear fluids changed in my '01 Dak QC 4x4.... synthetic front and rear... I wanted the rear diff done up with synthetic (the heavier stuff) as I will soon be doing some towing and the tech (not the service writer) said they (that dealership) only use synthetic front and rear (lighter weight in the front)..... the service writer was clueless....

Message: Dirk,
Buy your own synthetic gear lube (I wouldn't use anything but AMSOIL) and take it to the dealer and ask them to install it.
Most dealerships rip off the customers by marking up their synthetic gear oils by at least 50-100%.
And who knows what kind of quality you are getting ?????
Dr. D
p.s. GO SYNTHETIC FRONT AND REAR !!
