Subject: FAILED INSPECTION - No reverse Lights! IP: Logged
Message: i went to get the Dak inspected and it failed because my reverse lights do not work! It's been like that forever...but now I HAVE to fix it :-)
Where the heck is the switch people are refFering to that is near the tranny?? Is it accesible without taking anything apart? Can I simply get another switch from the dealer and replace it...or does it require more extensive work? The bulbs are new and the Fuse is not blown.
I got 20 days.....tick, tick, tick :-)
Thanks all
Kevin

Message: Hey DakotaGuy92...I can't find the darn thing. Is there a place I can find a picture of it's location? I looked under my truck today around the transmission...I followed the tranny from front to back on the passenger side. Near the front of the tranny (towards the front of the truck) there is a 'stem' with a wire attached, I call it a 'stem' because it appears to be about 4" long...and I really don't feel comfortable about taking it apart without knowing what it is first :-)
Thanks again for the assistance.
----------------------
I stopped by the dealer and asked for a backup light switch for a 99 Dak...he quoted me $83!!!! Does that sound right? If I need to get...I need to get it....but whew.....that seems a hefty price for a switch.
Thanks
Kevin

Message: You didn't mention whether which tranny you have. I had to replace mine last year. Mine in a manual tranny and its on the left hand side. It is a dealer only item and shouldn't be very expensive. Mine was only about $22.00. I have the NV-3500 tranny. Good luck, its easy to change.

Message: drivers side of transmission . napa or autozone oe advanced should have it. did mine a year ago. it unscrews it has two to three prongs sticking out of it. a plug and three wires come off it and go the engine bay. ask them were it is and have them tell you how to get it off. ask the dealer these question. buy the part from napa should be cheaper. and get a manual for your truck it should help you with questions like these
