Message: Hey thanks for the info and quick responce...
I am amazed at that. I have not seen the truck it is an estate deal thing.
Do you know if the 2.5 had enough power to pull anything and could it get a decent mpg rating...
Thanks again

Message: it probably won't be a power house but should get good mpg, i've also read the same or similar 2.5 was used in jeeps so that would make for some aftermarket parts

Message: Dont even bother with the 4 cyl. WAY to underpowered for the Dakota. You'll be passed by geo's.

Message: My 2001 Sport (2.5 4-banger) is running a new intake and dynomax exhaust. It carries enough power to squeal the tires through first, but I wouldn't try pulling anything with it. Maybe a small aluminum boat, but that'd be about it. I'd think that you'd be risking you motor by imposing that amount of stress on it. It isn't THAT strong.

Message: I have not seen the truck yet but I am told it is great condition and a good runner with no rust..
500 bucks drives home...
Just had my vehicle totald out by an uninsured motorist and of course mine is playing games so I thought 500 for a truck would be good...
about pulling maybe just a boat or something with a max weight of 800-1000 lbs with out trailor...or just for hauling parts and stuff.
At that price could always do an engine swap..lol
Thanks again !!
