Subject: Oil Recommendation IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a used Dakota from a Dodge dealer in my area. The truck didn't have a owner's manual with it, so I don't know what oil I should be using (brand and such) for my truck when I go to change the oil (done only by me or my dad). The dealership changed the oil for me when I bought it, along with inspecting it and rotating the tires. I asked them what oil they used and they said it was something like 'Mopar' brand and only available for them. They didn't act like it was for sale. So now, I'm wondering if my manual will be here before I have to change the oil and was wondering if you all could tell me what dodge recommends in the manual. My truck is a 2001 Dakota Sport with the 2.5 Magnum L4 in it. Any help is appreciated.

Message: Use a 100% synthetic like Mobil 1 or Amsoil. I think the Mobil 1 is a better value than Amsoil and the last time I saw a comparisson, the differences between the two was very minimal. I do however recommend the Amsoil filter.

No blueballs,
I have no story to tell here. :-)
SilverDakota8's question related to "what viscosity"?
The question was answered ... 10w-30.
He can search for "viscosity" on this site for further information, and make any necessary adjustments as to his climate, driving habits and conditions.

Message: Thanks a lot guys. I appriciate it. I'll probably use mobile 1 next time I change the oil. Can you recommend a brand of oil filter that may increase gas milage? Don't know if it will or not. Just a thought.
