I got in my truck yesterday to go put up the boat and my check engine light came on. I did the on off on off and got and p 0442 error code. So I looked it up and is says Small Leak detected in the evaporative purge system. What the hell is the evaporative purge system and what part of the truck does that deal with i.e. A/C, fuel?? Any help would be appreciated

Emission control system. Not serious, but a 75,000 mile warranty item.

I had that come on on my g/f's car and all it was was her not tightening the gas cap enough. If its not that check for hoses going to that little box on the driver side frame rail and then check the hoses on the purge system either located on the firewall above the distributer or next to the battery depending on year.
