Message: I too read that Dodge said they were selling more 4-door rams than the extended cab. But, I have yet to see a 4-door Ram on the road and the dealer’s lots.
But, I think one should be careful about the terms Dodge uses for their cab configurations. A salesman told me that the Rams quad cab was the extended cab with the rear hinged rear panels. He said the 4-door was called a crew cab.
Confusing right?
I have seen more Quad Cab Dakotas on the road and dealer lots than the Club Cab Dakota. It seems to me that Dodge is trying to push the 4-door Ram on to the consumers. Either that or Daimler is holding back Chrysler.
I also read that Dodge would bring back the extended cab version in the second or third year of the new model run.
I wanted a SLT Ram Extended Cab, but could not afford it. So I ended up with my SLT Dakota Club Cab. Sometimes I'm glad I went with the Dakota, and sometimes I wish I went with the Ram, but I am glad I went with Dodge.
I won't consider buying the new Ram until they release the 5.7L HEMI in a 1500 Extended Cab. I guess I get to wait for a few years.
