Subject: service 4 wheel drive light on FIX ??

On My 2001 the service 4 wheel drive light is coming on every now and than, dealer says it may have something to do with the AC switch, anyone else have this problem and know what needs to be repaired or replaced to fix it? thanks

I was having the same problem at the end of last year. Service 4WD light would come on, go off, come on. I let it go, then the the damned T-case started shifting all by itself (I have the electronic shifter.) It got to the point the thing would shift into 4WD, but the indicator would still say 2WD. So I took it to the dealer and they found a few chaffed wires that were shorting / opening. If the dealer continues to find no fault, this may help. Its what they put on my repair report:
"...Chaffed wires in cavity #5 on the yellow wire with violet tracer, yellow wire with orange tracer, and yellow wire with white tracer..."

Might wanna tell the dealer to check there if you too have the electronic shifter. I can imagine the '01 can't be that different that the '02. Hope that helps out.
