Message: Hey, anyone have Powerstop rotors bolted on? Any problems? Any pad advice? Jeg's has them for about $95.00 a pop. I was considering Powerslots but it sounds like people, Dakota people I mean, haven't had much luck. But then anything would be better than the oem garbage that they sold us. And does anyone know of good copper or aluminum header gaskets for the 4.7? I was finally going to bolt up my JBA's but I was waiting for a decent gasket. Okay bye.

Message: I assume this is a chronic problem with Dakotas. I've
had my rotors turned at every 3,000 mile service and
replaced every 9,000. MOPAR brakes and rotors sux.
I'll be trying irotors or SBC or anything else next time.

Message: ROJO, Take it easy on your brakes man! You should be getting AT LEAST 30,000 out of brakes & rotors. You might want to get your calipers checked, they could be dragging causing premature wear and failure. If your rotors are warping that fast it sounds like they are overheating!
Laterz,
Shank

Message: That's completely idiotic and nothing more than an urban legend. Stopping in reverse does nothing for warped rotors. This is a design defect and DaimlerBenz er Chrysler knows it.

Message: I went to autozone and bought some standard replacement rotors (i think they were $25 a piece) and found out that brimbo made them. I also put on the carbon-metallic (or whatever they are) pads and my truck stopped in about half the distance. Still havent warped a rotor but the expensive pads eat way at the rotors pretty good. Good thing Autozone puts a lifetime-free replacement warranty on them ;-)

Message: OK...so it doesn't help adjust the rears drums then?
When you stop in reverse it adjusts the rear drums. You can also crawl under there and adjust them manually too if you want with a screw driver or something. I just don't feel like getting dirty. DB/C has been using this same SH$TTY design for years. By having the rears in adjustment they take some of the burden off the fronts. Seems to work and seems to help the pedal feel a bit. Call me an idiot if you want...I don't care.

Message: I switched to Powerslot rotors with Hawk HPS pads at about 12,000 miles. I now have somewhere around 57,000 miles with no problems. The stock rotors are very poor and turning them just takes more metal off.

Message: Power Slots Brakes
The text quoted:"Power Slot rotors are made using the highest quality Original Equipment replacement blanks. Competitors will sacrifice quality by using inexpensive off-shore castings. Typically these are made of inferior porous material and often have less cooling fins than their OE counterpart. These fins also serve to reinforce the rotor and guard against warpage. Power Slot rotors always meet and/or exceed all OE specifications. It’s also important to know that the exclusive Vac-U-Slot is tapered to enhance evacuation of heat and gases. All machining is done in house to Power Performance Group’s application specific tolerances to ensure optimum quality control."
Does that mean the power slots are the same Mexican Shlt that the trucks come with in the first place?

Message: Yes the OEM are junk, my 2000 Quad cab or course warped them as well. Didn't replace until the pads were shot (around 55,000 miles).
Also went to AutoZone and got the cheap rotors, around $25 each as previous post mentions. Wish I would have gotten better pads with less brake dust. At 65,000 miles no warped rotors yet.
Chrysler says the rotors are a replacement item not covered under warantee, they are probably right as it is best to replace the rotors (at least with these inexpensive ones) at every brake change.
