Message: I am wanting to swap out my 3.9L for a new/rebuilt 5.2L 318. my question is will my manual 5 speed AX15 tranny handle the additional power of a stock or mildly modded 5.2L 318? any help and insight would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah I have a 98 Dakota Sport 4x4

Message: Stock or mildly modified 318, yeah, that should work. I know guys with blown 3.9 V6's putting out as much power as a 318 and an AX15 tranny. I'd consider going to an NV3500 at some point though - those handle a 318 fine.
