I noticed one fellow made his homebrew intake with the factory "snorkel" and than an extension of about 12" made of high quality 3" rubber hose. I see alot of the homemade ones made up with the 2 elbows and pvc pipe as well as the toilet flange for bolt on. the factory snorkel adds flexibility and looks a little more professional.Anyone else try this method and how well does it work?

The factory "snorkel" as you call it adds a lot of turbulence to the air flwo as well. The theory behind the PVC pipe f the metal tubes of most aftermarket intakes is for smoother airflow.
