Message: Doing the 3000 mile change, using dino oil. Live in Socal, so pretty warm out here. What weight would you folks advise? Mornings typically around 40-50 at the coldest.
Thanks,
Mark

Message: If your vechile is still under warranty use 10w30. That is the thickest that Dodge recommends. If their is no warranty left then you have more choices. Delvac 15w40 is an excellent choice. It has excellent soot and deposit control and retains it's viscosity. It also has good anti wear and corrision additives. Their are quite a few gentelman on this board the run synthetic 15w50 in their trucks. I realy do not feel like argueing with my dealer if it should need repair work under warranty. Once my warranty is up I am going to run 15w50. If you can get it in writeing run the thickest oil that dodge will authorize.

Message: Delvac is a great oil for soot and deposit control if your dakota is a diesel??????
But sandman Rotella T is better run in it my 450hp/700lb-ft power stroke hot shot with 375,000 miles and no teardown..........sandman why don't u try running 90 weight gear oil in your truck or tar............modern gasoline engines are designed to run on 5w-30 and no harm to them........btw my oil gets lab tested every 10,000 miles and my '91 firebird formula 5.7L has 140,000 hard miles on it, 5w-30 since new oil changed every 3-5k, valvoline dino oil!!! no smoke or oil burning between changes. my new 4.7 cc dak just got 5 new quarts of valvoline dino oil at 1000mi and will get the swap to mobil 1 0w-30 or 5w-30 at 4-5K .......no doubt synthetics cut wear btw.......your wife buys your motor oil..........hhahahahahahahahahahah

Message: Where do you get your oil tested. I have been running synthetic Mobil 1 since mile 1. I use 10w-30. I live in NY and the weather is up and down so I think this is the better oil to use. I have had no problems with oil pressure or any oil problems since the first day. My 6 cents.
