Obviously you just need to check the ratings...

However I will tell you that I "upgraded" once thinking the same question... And come to find out, the next grade up was the exact same hitch, it just used ONE additional mounting bolt (per side) which upgraded the rating.

Your situation may be the same.

LouNY,

Towing equipment is underated by about 15% as a margin of safety by the DOT so you should be fine.

I always like to go beyond the minimum and buy the heaviest equipment that I can find for my own margin of safety.

Tip #1.
Always buy a hitch ball that is manufactured by or for a reputable company like Draw-Tite, Reese, Valley, etc. ( I have seen some cheap imported balls break off ); I prefer the "Heavy Duty" Balls from NAPA due to the fact that they are made by Valley Industries in the USA.

Tip #2.
Consider switching over to AMSOIL (Engine, Transmission and differential) when you plan on using your DAK as a "Tow" vehicle.

Happy Towing

LouNY, Dodge requires you put in 75w-140 synthetic rear diff. fluid if your going to tow. I put in AMSOIL 75w-90 which could theoreticly void my warranty but is more than adequate and with a simple 3.55 open diff I`m not worried about it.

LouNY,
Yes, I recommend AMSOIL to be used in the differential as well as the rest of the truck.

I also highly recommend that you install an electric brake controller (visit www.tekonsha.com)
If you haven't already done so.
