the 231 transfer came on both 500s & 518s,but check the out-put shaft on the trans to the size of the in-put shaft transfer and also the out-put on the transfer to the drive shaft yoke.
the 500s are 904s with o/d and the 518s are 727s with o/d,both are basicly the same except the 518s
[727] are the heavy duty[larger clutchs,shafts,etc]
hope this helps.
the 500s are quicker and just as good,they have a lower first gear and can be built to hold up tothe power of the hemi

check the output shaft size [trans]-too the input transfer=if these fit,it will work.

The 518 did come with a np231 transfercase but did they change the maiting or the bolt patter. can anyone help.
