 Subject: Friend has 40k.....What should he get?

I know this is off topic but a good friend of mine has 40k to spend on a sports car(new or used). He asked me what he should get and I drew a blank. He has three kids so a two seater is out since he may have to stuff a couple in the back on occasion. Any info on what to get or not to get would be appreciated.

Just talked to my friend and a two seater is ok. He is looking at used Corvette converts.(00-02) His wife likes the Mustang but we both agree the Vette is the way to go.

A used Vette is a great choice.
He may even be able to find a used Z06 Vette in his price range.
Fabulous car.
www.buxtonmotorsports.com - always seems to have a good selection (and they sell Mallett versions!).

i say go with a used z06, or a older viper, that would be my choice if i wanted a v8, but if i had 40k, id be buying me a 1999 3000gt vr-4, hehe absolutely love those cars

I would suggest a 1969 Charger R/T with the 440 Magn. He will definitely be seen in that ride. And he can still have $$$$ in the bank. Might want to avoid the the 'vette, they are having issues with the lower ends on the motor going bye-bye prematurely.

I would reccomend a BMW 330. Two or four doors. Performance or Premium Packages are available and help the car in different ways. I rode in one the other day (4-door 330) and it was really nice. The room inside isn't great but it isn't a large car and the ride and handling make up for this (not to mention the twelve speaker stereo). This is a nice ride as is the new G35, but if you want more sport the Vette Z06 is great (albeit a little pricier) and the new Cobra is cool also.

Have him check out the new Mazda Rotary sports car. I owned a 2 rotary station wagons and the rotary pickup in the the mid '70's. Awesome vehicles.

He is using the cash for extensive plastic surgery, just kidding. Bought a 03 Mustang GT convertable,260 hp motor,5-spd.,charcoal,black top,tan leather int.,chrome wheels. Wife won out, probably a smart move on his part(with that mug..sheeesh). I think he should of got the vet, I always wanted to drive one of those:-) Anyways thanks to everone for their input and to whoever posted that pic.(I swear it wasnt me, but hillarious) He will check out this thread tommorow night, hopefully he will believe me and I will still be able to drive his new ride.
If I put in the HO cams maybe I can keep up with him;)
