Will using AMSOIL Motor Oils increase gas mileage?
Tighter government regulations and increases in engine manufacturers’ demands are calling for more fuel efficient lubricants. AMSOIL Motor Oils reduce friction and drag better than petroleum oils, resulting in significant fuel economy increases. In a recent 1.2 million mile demonstration, AMSOIL Lubricants showed a 4.5% increase in gas mileage. Other tests have shown increases of as much as 15% under certain weather and driving conditions. Yet, because every vehicle is different, as are driving habits and conditions, it is difficult to accurately project an exact increase.

I am about to panic. I can not afford gas at todays prices.
Oil prices surge to 13 year high.
US crude oil prices have reached their highest level since 1990 as ongoing global terrorism fears continue to put an upward pressure on the market.
With last week's events in Spain still fresh in the mind of traders, the price of New York's benchmark light sweet crude surged 70 cents to $38.18.
This is the highest figure since 16 October 1990 - more than 13 years ago in the run up to the first Gulf War.
Approaching $3 gallon for gas here in Cali.

Message: I did see a small increase in my fuel mileage by switching to Amsoil 10w-30 in my 4.7. The best way to get better mileage is to try to cut down on the short trips to town if you can.

Message: 20.9 this morning on my way to work (39 miles - 10% city, 30% rural hiway, 60% freeway) ....
'02 QC AWD 4.7L 3.92 LSD 265/70R16's, Peragon tonneau cover, Redline in diffs, meticulous maintenance, Magnaflow single in dual out 2.5".
Couple of observations -- I get 14 in town no matter how I drive and if I go 85 instead of 65/70 on the freeway, my mpg drops to about 16.
My '94 Ranger Splash w/ similar mods got 24-26 on the highway -- 4.0L 5 spd 4.10's 4" susp lift 33/12.5's.
Both of these trucks, IMHO, are quite acceptable with respect to gas mileage.

Message: WEll Mo-par they might be ancent motors but they still run while the othere Ford and GM trucks are in the shop with there hoods raised up for a new motor.
You can't even take the oil pan out of a ford with out tearing down half the engine to get to it so what type of engineering is that?
Some of you Dakota owners my be experinceing a clich on the sending unit just like me. So you really could be getting 15% better AVG. than what you think.

Message: Does anyone know where I can find the dates when oil companies are supposed to switch from "winter fuel" to regular? I know it varies from region to region. I'm hoping it will be soon, especially with the price of gas now.

Message: Timberwolf -- where r ya located? I'm in western PA and I think it's September 15th and April 15th. There's a sticker on a lot of pumps around here, so I'll check the next time I get gas and let ya know.
