Subject: Charging System IP: Logged
Message: I had to pull the head off my 4 Cyl to do some cleaning and tap out a broken Exhaust stud, when I put everything back together It ran like a champ! The problem is the battery isn't charging. I have replaced the Altenator and had it retested, it is good, and I had the battery charged and retested, it is good. I have looked for loose ground wires and have been unsuccesful in finding any.
Help! Any suggestions will be very much apreciated.

Message: There is a temp. sensor under the battery that sends a signal to the PCM that controls the charging circuit. On OBDII that is, what's your year?

Message: I did this, they refuse to scan it because the check engine light is not on. They say that there OBD-2 scanner only reports hard codes stored by the Check Engine light. they advise me to take it to a shop and have it scanned with a "snap-on" OBD-2 scanner.

Message: There were 4 grounds that I saw, 2 on the Head going to the same wire loom as the Altenator, 1 to the Valve Cover to the Firewall, and one from the Altenator to the Wireloom.

Message: If the battery goes dead overnight, look for a bridge rectifer in the alternator. If the voltage gauge shows only about 12 volts, look for the fuse link in the relay box. The ends of the alternator wire are exposed and can easily get shorted and pop the fuse link. I used shrink wrap to cover the exposed wire to prevent any short. Good luck.
