Message: Does the Dakota have the same dependability with higher mileage (150k - 200k) as the Toyota? For the 4, 6 and 8 cylinder models. I am looking to by a used Dakota and I want to see if there is a particular motor or model that may be a better choice with higher mileage.

Message: You shouldn't run into problems with the motor itself, if it was properly maintained. It's the other stuff that could give problems: alternator, radiator, supension components, etc. The main problem with vehicles that have that many mile on them is that they have had a lot longer to be abused. I would stay away from it unless they can show you detailed maintenance records, no matter what make it is.

Message: I had a '92 RC 5.2 auto that made it to 217K on original engine/trans/rearend. Replaced radiator about 150K, engine computer and cat converter 160K. Timing chain at 52K under oil leak warranty, same one to end. Original alternator and oxygen sensor! Always ran like a top. 3K oil changes/40K platinum plugs/36K tranny fluid/STP injector concentrate 10K. Ran 93 octane due to MP computer at 160K. Maintenance records are GOLD to a used vehicle purchase.
