Message: I tried to get the msd replacement coil and the accel adapter harness for my 2000 qc with the 5.9, i was going to order from summit but they had the harness on backorder, so i went to jegs website and everything looked good, ordered it and only the coil came with a notification number for the harness, so i had to go to the website and punch in the number to find out that they had the harness on backorder too. that ticked me off because there was nothing to tell you that before you order it. called them a couple of times asking when it would be shipped out and it kept getting kicked back a couple weeks everytime i called, finally i got one service rep to tell me that they have had it on backorder for almost a year, she tried to tell me it wasnt their fault because the manufacturer wasnt sending them out but she made no offer to try to make things right, so i ended up sending the coil back with my own money and exchanging it for the blaster ss coil, which i had to call in to check and make sure they were making the exchange right, if they dont notify you of anything then why take your email or phone number? just venting here, it has been almost two months since i wanted to get working on the truck and i have been waiting for them, just doesnt make a guy very happy.
oh yeah, i also had to bitch to get them to wave the "handling fee" for the second coil, they wanted to charge me the 9 bucks again!

Message: Sorry to hear that, I always thought they were a good company. One thing I always do is to try and buy things locally, support the independant parts guys here in my home town. I might be able to save a few $$ by buying from big companies but if I ever need help or replacment the locals are much easier!!
Not sure if that would apply to the stuff you were trying to get or not. I just hate to see all the ma & pa shops going away....

Message: i do try to buy locally but i live north dakota, we only have two performance shops here in town along with a couple of places like napa and it can be pretty hard to find parts, and usually they have to be ordered in anyway at a higher price so i thought i would try jegs, not a good move.

Message: I ordered the MSD Direct Replacement Coil and the adapter harness back in january from summit. i received the coil immediately and was told the harness would be available at the end of february. february rolled around and they changed the availability date to the end of april, yet again the end of april came around and they changed it to the end of may. suprisingly, they must have because available from summit because i received an email today stating that it has been shipped to me. i dont know if you'd be able to get one though because of the amount of orders placed for it. looks like you dont need it anymore anyway. also I know what you mean with jegs not showing that the product is not available, unlike summit. but i called before i ordered to see if it was available because i had doubt, and of course it wasnt available. ive been told that these MSD direct replacement ignition coils for our trucks "burn out" quite often when used with an MSD ignition box. so we'll see. later.

Message: Get yur face out of the puter long enough to do some face to face purchasing/ordering at a speed shop. Dunno, maybe that dosn't work for everyone. The time that u spent bichin bout jegs in ur post I could have been to one of several H/P speed shops round hear and got answers. Just me I guess, (not lazy)+ it's hard to be intimidating over a phone or through a post.

Message: that was the most ignorant comment ive ever heard. first off, the manufacturer of this harness adapter stopped making them, actually only make a couple hundred at a time. therefore, a good part of these made would go to the bigger companies selling most these parts. ive gone to every performance shop and/or parts store and they all have the same answer, "no, theyve stopped making them". if you're gonna get the part from anywhere it's online. and the time you spent typing that post, you could have used reading a book.

Message: Phil, I disagree with your statement. "Gas Hog" placed his order with Jegs. Whether or not they are the manufacturer or somewhere else along the supply chain they are responsible for servicing the customer and meeting their needs and expectations. He has every right to post about his experience whether it be good or bad. Jegs should have been in contact with the manufacturer and kept him up to date. They failed.

phil, jegs IS a bad vendor to ME, thats my opinion, i dont care if they are a billion dollar corporation, i am not worried about it coming back to haunt me. i dont hate you either, you posted before thinking about what you were saying and now you think you have to back it up, thats ok, i could tell before what kind of person you are when you stated "it's hard to be intimidating over a phone or through a post", what are you going to do, hit them? not the best way to get someone to help you.

Message: I've ordered a lot of stuff through Summit and Jegs. Both are very good and I have very satisfied with them. Yes I have been through exactly what you are talking about. Summit online will indicate back order prior to ordering. Jegs will tell you after. I had this. No big deal, if you don't want to wait, cancel the order. It's not their fault as far as updates when the part will be received. They only get the info they receive from the vendor. I've been on wait for a part for a while and kept calling for updates. Hey I guarantee they are better than a local store when a part is not in stock. Summit/Jegs are huge and have to keep up with vendors. (Do you think they really have all that invintory in stock?) Your local store will likely have more trouble pinning down a vendor or the headquarters on a delivery.

Message: I have actually been to Summit in Akron Ohio which is semi-local to me and surprisingly enough they do carry lots of stuff in inventory. I don't know what their lot sizing or safety stock program entails, but if you buy a common product chnaces are they will have it in stock. They are definitely one of the best distributors I have seen aside from McMaster Carr (industrial supply co.) which is amazing.

Message: I too used to believe in buying local but a couple of bad experiences with the former Super Shops changed my attitude. Unless you are extreamly lucky and have a local shop that carries a large inventory, you are left to use the mail order shops. In my area it seams these guys only want to stock the latest glue and screw on do-dads and colored light bulbs.

Message: I agree with the majority of you; I put a Promaster coil on my truck and needed a longer wire to reach the distributer cap. I spent an entire afternoon driving around trying to buy one locally with no luck. Came home and ordered one from Summit and had it in 1 day.

Message: I've ordered thru both Jegs and Summit and have had decent service. I went to my local speed shop to order an MSD coil. It took over two weeks to get here and when it did, it looked used. The packaging was intact but it was all scratched and nasty looking. I wouldn't accept it. I then ordered one thru Summit. Got here in 4 days. I'm not saying it's the local guys fault for my crappy order. I've even been back there for other things, but it's been Jegs and Summit that has proven themselves. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose!
Hey GasHog, where you at in ND? I've lived in both Minot and Dickinson.
