 Subject: Mopar Hemi Kit

I was reading in the posts about Chrysler offering a hemi crate motor kit for the Dakotas for around 5 grand. Does anyone know if my drive train would have to go to use it?
I know it's a dumb question but I love my truck but the motor could be a lot better. (I'm used to big blocks)

I doubt that you will be able to find a big block hemi crate motor for less than $10,000 dollars. I also would seriously doubt that Dodge would ever put a kit together to encourge people to place a big block hemi in their Dak.-IMHO

Mopar Performance, Summit Racing and others offer
a 360 crate motor in that price range. Lots of
Dakota owners have installed them.

WELL I JUST GOT THRU WATCHING SPEEDVISION 11-10-01 AND THE HEAD OF MOPAR PERFORMANCE SAYS THEY ARE SELLING A COMPLETE KIT INCLUDING HEMI ENGINE,TRANSMISSION,DRIVESHAFT,HEADERS,AND ALL BRACKETS ETC. TO INSTALL THE CRATE MOTOR IN A DOKOTA.

Rich is not seeing things. Saw the same show and Mopar Performance is offering complete kits to stuff a HEMI into older DAKs. Noticed in Mopar Muscle (Dec 2001) pg21 Schumacher Creative Services is also offering DAK 4 & 6 cyl to V8 kits (brackets, perches, and bolts).

Sorry to disappoint, but someone is reporting on DML that he talked to Mopar Perfomance and the Hemi kit for the DAK. never got off ground. Evidently the piece we saw last week on SpeedVision was an old rerun. I already had my check book/credit card out.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys.
Take a look at www.engine-swaps.com
It's Schumacher Creative Services web site. Every product I've ever bought from them has been excellent. If Mopar doesn't go through with the hemi/DAK kit talk to Schumacher, they just might put a swap kit together

The guy on DML reported that he had talked directly to Mopar Performance technician. I have not attempted the call, but you might want to try it.
Also might want to check DML web site as there are several current chats on this subject.
