Subject: Front End Alignment IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dakota Club Cab. The truck came with the 15x7 wheels. I installed a pair of 17x9 R/T styled wheels. I didn’t have any problems with the truck pulling left or right. I ended having to get the upper left control arm replaced due to the ball joints. The dealer fed me the “alignment is not covered under warranty BS”. I took my truck to a local front-end shop and had the alignment shop. The truck still pulls to the left. That’s been about a year and a half ago.
Now I remember reading that the larger wheels and tires can mess up an alignment job. I didn’t remember this when I did the alignment so it is my fault. Now for the technical question. Since I am running the 17x9 R/T styled wheels, can I go to a different alignment shop and tell them to dial in the alignment settings for a Dakota R/T when my truck is not a R/T? Does the 1” ride height difference between a R/T and SLT make a big difference when doing a front-end alignment?
Thanks
