...to the Dark Side. I have a 01CC and it's had so many problems. It has just over 30,000 miles on it and the front brakes need to be replaced. Rotors warped. It's had the upper control arms replaced. The lower ball joints are being replaced next week. The front sway bar links were replaced. It's clunked in the steering from day 1. I'm just so tired of my beautiful truck and all it's problems. When the warranty is up, I'm screwed. It's like have a beautiful psycho for your girlfriend. Great to look at and show off but a raving nutty bltch at heart.

Anyway, I stopped in at the local Chev dealer and test drove an S10 4x4 extended ZR2. Nice little truck. They won't give me squat for my Dak, though. Understandable since the sales guy was able to list all the known problems including the warped rotors.

I'm tempted. Man am I tempted.

Sorry to hear about the problems with your Dakota. I drove S-10's from 1982 (first year out) until 1999 for a total of 5 trucks of which 4 were 4x4's and two were ZR2's. On each of the trucks I put 250,000 + miles with the only problem being 2 transmissions and 2 fuel pumps. And this would be like after 150,000 miles. My wife still drives the S-10 Blazer, her third one. I found the S-10 with the V6 Vortex 4.3 a strong and very reliable engine. The ZR2 is a good looking truck and I still check 'em out when I see one runnning down the road which is rare here in south Texas.
With all that said you may be asking why I am driving a Dakota, actually my second. Well, like you said it's a good looking truck. And I might add it's the best looking mid-size truck, on or off road and it has more interior room compared to the S-10. I've had good luck with both Daks, of which I bought used. My 97CC 4x4 had 93,000 miles with no problems when I sold it and bought my 2000 QC 4x4 which now has 33,000 problem free miles. My wife and kids love the truck and I'm considering purchasing a Durango for my wife when the milage on her S-10 hits 200,000.

You may want to wait for the new Colorado with the ZR1 package coming out next year.

That would be the Z71 package (I'm bad) 3500 Vortec 5 cylinders 220 hp engine. Try chevy.com, not a lot of info but some.

Luke, feel the force.

They had that truck here in MN when we had our auto show and you can get a v-6 for about a grand more according to the lady at the show seems a little stupid $1000 dollars for 1 cyl.
