Message: yeah that will do it. It will give a low presure or vacume leak.Easiest way i know is to just disconnect battery overnight that should clear it out. I also think i saw somewhere on this site how to do it with your ignition switch.Hope i could help

Message: That would not set a sensor off that I know of, unless there is some kind of gas tank pressure sensor on your truck. You can reset the PCM on your 98 dak. In fact it's good to do so if you have any new mods. Your PCM will read the new information and set itself accordingly.
To reset your PCM all you have to do is remove the Neg battery lead, and hold you ignition down for about 20 seconds. You might have to reset your radio too. Your trip meter will also reset. Good luck finding out what code was tripped. But I dont think it would be from leaving the gas door on loose.

Message: Loose gas cap will throw a code. To clear it just take the neg term off for about 10-20 mins. This should do the trick.
