Message: I haven't removed them from a dak, but I am sure they are like most. YOu should have 2 nuts on the door handle, which it may be hard to see, you probably have to use your hands as eyes, probably takes a 10 mm socket. As far as springs, just look and or feel for two steel rods that go to the handle. One will be for your doorlocks, the other for your door hinge. Follow the rods to your door handle and feel and or look for a plastic snap connector. YOuo will have to unsna; the connector from the rod, push it typically, then lift out of plastic connector. Removing the nuts, and rods for the handle assembly should allow you to remove door handle. Tip, disconnect the rods first, it is easier to remove them this way, vs. a freely moving door handle.

Message: The other nut is hidden by an oval-shaped plastic cover on the inside of the door (at least it was on my 99). 10mm sounds right, but you will probably need an extension to get in there. When I had mine painted, I just removed these bolts, and popped the handles far enough away from the body that I could mask behind them. It seemed like too much hassle to go through taking all of the mechanisms off, then re-installing everything. Paint turned out fine.
