My local Goodyear dealer did a national search for me, and found out that all of the inventory of 255/65/16 yellow letter Eagle #1's is depleted. Dodge only made 1028 Motorsports Dakotas and 1026 Intrepids in the Spring of 2001. I guess Goodyear felt it was too small a replacement market for them to keep up. Curiously, they now market WHITE letter Eagle #1's, even though NASCAR still runs yellow. I pulled up the old Motorsports posts here and the V8 board to inform fellow owners.

Actually it wasn't Dodge, it was Goodyear. They had so many complaints about the Yellow fading so quick that they stop production of the yellow lettering. I bought a set for my Intrepid through a Goodyear dealer and tried to return them since I was still under warranty. That's when I found out they stopped yellow. White lettering is still available but that wouldn't look good on my white Intrepid.

The "fading lettering" is solved by using a mild solvent (I use Ditzler 330 or R&M 900 from body shop supplier) on each letter, followed by Armor All on the entire tire. Treatment lasts about 60 days. Two of my tires have 48K and still look great.

My tires have 30,000 on them, get cleaned every weekend, and still look great. Im kinda pissed that they stopped making them. Now I have to buy a bigger rim, get it powder coated black, and throw some low profiles on there so theres not so much sidewall. ERG!

The fact that the tires have been discontinued wouldn't be any big deal, except that there are 1028 copies of the 2001 Dodge Motorsports Limited Edition Dakotas without any means of restoring the original equipment appearance in the future. I plan to store my set for shows or future resale, and buy some R/T wheels for daily driving. I've got a black regular cab, and black wheels and black sidewalls just doesn't cut it. White letters are 70's-yuk-retro.

I don't show my truck, just when its on the road. It gets annoying sometimes, people are always honking the horn while im driving through intersections and stuff. Was cool at first, thought to myself, I got this sweet truck, chicks are gunna be all over it. No.. They don't even check it out half the time, its always guys with #3 decals on their vehicals. Erg. Butta, I was thinking about getting a set of 20's that Jonus had and either getting the Chrome, to match the grill and the exhaust tips, or getting them powder coated black, and keeping the 16's that are on there now for winter - with some snow tires on them. Truck sucks up here in the NE with those tires.
I did notice that Goodyear still makes the Eagle 1 Nascar Editions with white walls, but dont look anywhere near as good as the yellow. Oh well..
Maybe we can harass goodyear enough where they will put some back into production for us! lol.

man that sucks. white tires on a mortorsport are gonna look lame. thanks goodyear.any type of cleaner brings back the color. i use some stuff called awsome that i get at the dollar store. works great!
