Message: i tried to race an R/T today(for those of u who don't know i drive an 03 sentra SE-R auto)
the R/T was pre 01(had a V8 badge)
didn't seem all that quick, a stick cavilier tried him an he was hangin in there. i never actually got to go head to head, but the speed wasn't all that impressive.

I raced a Cavalier a couple of months back, it was insanely pathetic how far back it was by the time I crossed the traps.
Last week I raced a tricked out Honda... Had all the bling bling plastic crap attached to the outside of it, and at least 200hp worth of vinyl decals stuck all over it and on the rear quarter window. I'll never forget the look of fear on his face as he said "Please don't hurt me too bad" as we were getting ready to stage... I merely chuckled and said "This is a TRUCK for Chrissakes!" - I don't think it consoled him much when he lost by 20+ car lengths.

Message: cav was modded and the r/t didnt really hit it off the line.
they both were pullin on me because bein behind them i couldnt gun it and it shifted to 2nd and then back to 1st(thats the problem with autos). the R/T did eventually pull on the cav, but it took a while. i wish i could have been next to him. i could totally keep up with the r/t once we were movin. im sure if he got a good launch he would take me out, but I wasn't too impressed by the speed. Looks and sounds cool though.

the sad part was the queervalier had "SS" style wheels, "SS" badging and a nice fart tip. no wonder they killed the camaro... that car just insulted them too much.

Message: I'm nowhere near stock anymore, though performance-wise I'm just using most of the basic bolt-ons plus a little juice (75shot but only 750psi).
I'm not trying to compare my current config to any stock import - there's at least a 3 second difference between us right there. I've been going to the local Midnight Mayhem events for quite some time, where at least 70% of the people racing are driving imports - it's pretty funny when a truck can go and clean up at least 90% of the time with just a couple of bolt-ons (before N2O).
Since I've bolted on the NX kit I've been running faster than most of the Camaro SS's and Mustang GT/Cobras at the track - a whole new level of fun.

I still want a TT Z.
I like the ease of upgrading an existing turbo system with a motor that's already built for it..
You either have to go turbo or Chebby, and I'd rather have a TT Z over a Camaro ANY DAY!
I can't be buyin no Porsche either, and for that matter BMW's are too expensive to fix unless you do it yourself. Now that I think about it , that Z wouldn't be too cake to fix either. But they don't break down.

Message: I think someone already said that the 4.7 is sort of already optimized the way it sits, but I guess it can be tweaked more. Nissan has all the money they need to R&D a 4.5 that'll make 340 hp efficiently, but I don't. The math is what counts, so you just have to do the heads on the 4.7 and get a flash that'll optimize the new flow and be sure to have an exhaust that'll handle the flow on the other side and you should see 320 hp all motor. That is a realistic figure. It just wont idle quite like it does now. A good thing to use is the FAST system for that type of setup and go with all forged rotating assembly to be stout against any detonation or any other ignition problems while tuning it. 400 horses N/A is realistic if you go with the right cam, valves, and ports but it'll all be in the 5-7k rpm range, which the 4.7 should have no trouble spinning that fast with the right valve-train and bottom
end. With the right custom intake manifold and headers, you can even see bottom end very similar to the stock setup and with the right tuning the mpg can be dialed in for the street. It'll probably have to be wound to pass anybody, so the best way to get streetable power is a moderate head-porting job and some forced induction that's adjustable. The 4.7 doesn't offer any roadblocks that any other motor has in the past, it's just new and everybody that has one is antsy to see more mods. They'll be out soon enough. Just enjoy your good gas mileage and mid 14's for about another year and a half and there should be some proven cams, intake manifolds, heads, headers, flashes, pistons, etc. for all those that want to spend lots of money to go fast. Wait this is a post about an R/T, oh, sorry. Yeah I like Nissans engines, the pistons are molybdenum coated or somethin crazy like that. I always thought that Yakimura guy looked sorta crazy like one of those smart guys that build stuff. Or was it Yashimoto?? Hmm
