Subject: Problem... IP: Logged
Message: Alright... I decided to clean the engine bay the other day. I covered and filled my TB with Wal-Mart plastic bags before I did so. But the bad thing is, is that the one covering the TB ripped when I accidentally went over it with the pressure washer at the car wash. The problem is this.
When I first start my engine it will Idle at about 2200 rpm's. It will then die down after about 5 minutes though. Then this morning when I started it it idled fast and went to normal pretty quick. It then dropped to about 750rpm's and died. I started it again and it did the same thing. Only this time I tried to keep it at from dieing. So when it started to drop rpm's I gave it some throttle. But it did the opposite. Every time I would hit the throttle it would slow the engine down instead of the obvious. I'm thinking it might be my MAP sensor the got wet and quit. But I'm not sure.
It's a 1998 5spd 4cyl.
I would really like to know whats wrong. And when I find out, I wonder if I can get my extended warrenty to cover it...
Even if I cant it would be a great help.

Message: Okay. still having the same problem... But now it sound like it's backfiring into the TB. I thgought that I could have gottn some water inside the Distributer cap so i took it off and checked it out. I noticed some carbon trails and though it could be the problem. I replaced it and the rotor, but it didn't really help. It runs a little smoother but is still have the same problem. I know that there is people out there that know what their talking about when it comes to engines and I would like your help. I don't have them money to spend to buy random parts and see if they work.

Message: ok here you go boys. You have gotten either the distributor, spark plug wires or coil full of moisture. Any of these components that are grounded will cause these problems.but because you havent specified what motors you have, diagnosis is speculative.
