Whats up? i just finished wrecking my f150 in a creek bottom which isnt a big deal when i only paid about 450 for the truck but now im looking to get myself a dakota and i narrowed down this 91 v8 but not sure what motor the 91 carries .. is it a 5.2 or 4.7 ... im hoping its a 5.2 but the guy who is selling doesnt know .. its 4x4 with a 3 inch body lift and 31's .. hopefully the mileage isnt too bad, anyone know any moderate engine or tranny/diffs modifications that will result in better gas mileage? Thanks

A 91 Dakota is a 5.2L (318) Don't want to be a smart a$$, but if you can't tell the differance between a 4.7 & 5.2 by looking at them, you better make sure it has eight spark plugs.

DAHEMIKOTA is correct it is a 5.2 (318) the one that i hvae is very reliable there are a few things you may want to do to get a little better perfoemance out of this motor.
K&N drop in filter
5.9L Throttle body KEEP THE 318 INJECTORS
Remove the plastic flap next to the radiator where the intake tube connects and put a piece of screen there to keep bugs out.

well id be carefull about the 91, it was the last year before they went to the magnums, so that v-8 is only rated at 180 hp or so, a 92 will have 230 hp

if the price is right and you like it,buy it,
thats one of the best motors built!!
chevy,ford,mopar-mag included=period
don,t let the 180hp fool you.
go electric fan,helps gas mileage and power
cheap and easy.
like some girls i use to knooooow,but i won,t go
there
have a good one.

i think it has the same tranny as the shelby dak, known to be weak

thanks, DAHEMIKOTA.. dude when i asked i hadnt seened the truck yet. it was over a friend and i just looked at it this afternoon. it does have a 318 but anyways it drives great .. i know 180 horses aint much but it will have to do for now. vern your right, small numbers but it has some kick .. laters
