Well I am either going to order a 2001 R/T RC this week or wait for the 2002. Does anybody have any new news about the 2002? I've read there will be a new orange color available at www.car-truck.com are there any other changes planned? I would wait until they offer $2000 rebates on the 2002 if I do decide to wait, does anybody remember how long it took the 2001's to get $2000 rebates? Did Dodge start out the 2001 models with some kind of rebate, like $1000? I just think down the road a 2002 will always have better resale then a 2001 built 1 month prior with almost equal mileage. I also may want that new orange as I was planning on Amber Fire for the 2001. Is Amber Fire probably the rarest R/T color or would white be? Finally anybody got good rumors for the 2003 redesign, It's supposed to look something like the 'maxicab' concept, does anybody think it will says close in price while getting the new 5.7 hemi? That may worth waiting for as well.

Well, you're kinda out of luck as far as ordering a 2001 goes. Can't order 'em anymore. You're gonna be stuck with a 2002. I think the amber fire color was discontinued mid-year this year too.

Good luck with whatever you get though!!

I was told buy two dealers around here that the cutoff was the 18th maybe even later depending on how many orders come in, they just need to be able to get them all built before the model year change over. That's the first I heard about the color unavability, although I haven't seen any on the lots for a few months now so it could be true. The dealers told me whoever said their dealer told them the ordering cutoff was a few weeks ago was probably just getting the old 'impending doom' sales close, or maybe the dealers had ordered all of thier possible allowcation.

Well they did say there was no Amber Fire available but I was able to order a 2001 RC Intense Blue R/T today. The only options I got were AC, rear slider, HD cooling, and mats. Total after rebates will be $18,030. I am very excited, I actually drove out of the 'city' to go through Ronan Auto Body where they only wanted a $400 refundable deposit and are willing to give me more for my Jeep if I need to trade it in. The parts manager there is a member of the R/T club and at the end of the deal let me drive his nicely modified R/T, thank you Jim! Well the wait is on now, I hope to learn a bunch here before it comes in.

What's the 2002 R/T going to have under the hood. I heard possibly a 4.7 liter. I think this was the last year for the 5.9 isn't it?

Well they also have dropped Intense Blue and I had to get something called Atlantic Blue Pearl. I am still pumped as I bet the color is the same and the name is different. I do wish the new orange was available with the R/T but I guess it's not. Too late now! If it comes is something like robins egg blue I'll be pissed!

I just bought a 2001 R/t that was a color thats not in the books. They call it Graphite. The dude told me they special ordered it. He said it may be a 2002 color to come. So If I were you guys wait for the 2002 and this color it badass. Its diffently cooler than the regular silver they have now!

The 5.9L is still going to be the R/T's engine and the 4.7L may see a horsepower bump to 240 or something like that. I would really like to know when Dodge first introduced any kind of rebate on the 2001's. I know some of you have to remember. It will be January before I have enough money saved to order my 4.7L 5 speed and it will really help to get some kind of reabte.

Chris, I just picked up an '01 QC 4x4/4.7/auto
last week. Guess what colour it
is....yup...Graphite Metallic.... I was VERY
happy when I saw it...since I didn't know quite
what to expect, since the colour was a very
late availability...was'nt in the brochures.

I had first ordered black back on 4/24....then
after checking the dodge website a week later
discovered that indeed, a new colour called
Graphite Metallic was available (code - PDR). I
managed to get the colour changed....and boy
am I glad I did....

You're right.... graphite is a "Bad Ass" colour,
eventhough mine's not an R/T.... it's got that
4x4 bad ass look...hehehe....plus the 4.7 is
NO slouch!

Cheers,
Luc

Well my order got put on a "BE" hold, There was/is some problem with the order and it may not get built. The customer service guy said he did check final build dates and they will be building 2001's until the 15th of next month. If we can get wahtever this "BE" code is cleared they can push my "sold" order ahead of the Dealers just trying to add to lot inventory. He said the cutoff for orders was the 25th of last month and my order showed going in on the 21st. It sounds like worse case they build it as a 2002 and I get the $2000 rebate anyway. The price increase on the 2002 R/T would only be $150. There were no new colors or options listed in the computer ordering program for 2002 R/T's, they are unchanged for 2002. The manager did try and give me some kind of line like the 360 is getting a little bit of a HP increase, (maybe just adding back that 5hp they stole last year). I then tryed to find an new 2001 R/T sitting on a lot somewhere. I found 3 at Lynnwood Dodge by Seattle but they are all loaded CC. Anybody seen any new RCs out there on the lots? I'm a bit disappointed the earlist I would get a truck is still a month out, bummer. The other thing that threw me today is the local dealer who wanted a huge non-refundable deposit because they don't order 2wd Dakotas now has 2 on the lot. One is a 4.7/auto/CC/silver with the wheel and tire package. It's looks pretty sweet but would actually cost $200 more then the RC R/T (it does have PW/PL/keyless the R/T I ordered does not). The other is a Sport v-6/5 speed/RC with A/C only that could be had for a mere $12900, tempting, if only it had the 4.7.

Hersbird,

I'm kinda biased, but IMHO, the 4.7 is a better
motor than the 5.9 (360), which basically is a
revamped motor that was designed in the
'60s. The 4.7 is just as fast in the "real world",
even though the 5.9 has it beat "on paper".
Bonus is that the 4.7 is apparently quite a bit
better in fuel economy.

Good luck...

Cheers,
Luc

So you all out there think a 4.7 with auto will run the same times as an equally equiped R/T. Meaning high 14's for a RC? Anybody got a stock RC 4.7 auto running 14.8 or 14.9? I haven't heard of that, but I have heard of several RC R/T's doing that. I'd admit the 5-speed 4.7 can do it, but I don't think the auto will, so the motors are not equal unless you handycap the 5.9 with an automatic.

I think that they are dropping the 3.9L V6 to make way for the new 3.7L Power Tech V6 borrowed from the new '02 Jeep Liberty with makes 210 horsepower and 235 lb/ft of torque. I think its the 4.7L 287 block with two cylinders chopped off. It sounds like the dakota 14 years ago with the 3.9 V6.

Have yet to take her out since. I ran 15.0's all day and broke out with a 14.96 on a 15.00 dial to take home the second place trophy.

I still have the timeslip to prove it.

I can't wait to get out with few mods, exhaust, air intake, IAT Adjuster, plus lowered 4".
