Message: Does anyone know where I can get the winch assembly for the spare tire on a GenI?
I need the entire thing, including whatever mounting bracket used to be there.
Mine had an unfortuante accident with a large chunk of something on a freeway and the result was a big open space where my spare should be.
I have been lucky not to get a flat so far.
I've tried my local junk yards but to no avail.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Message: I was going to suggest the junk yard until I read the end of your post. Oh well.
Maybe go to the local Dodge dealer late on a Sunday night....just kidding.
Same thing happened to me on my last truck, '95 S-10.
Cable broke on the highway at 75 MPH. Spare fell out of the bottom and bounced the whole back of the truck into the air.
Hair raising experience, to say the least.

Message: A better idea is to type "used parts" into a search engine. There are lots of companies out there that link junk yards all over the country and can find a difficult part in only a few days.

Message: Well I took another look and it seems that the cable is there but whatever used to be on the end is gone. I dunno if its a nut or what.
Does anyone know if one of those tire locks can take its place?
Thanks
