Subject: Dreaded Death Flash - Is there any hope IP: Logged
Message: I just read all the posts about the death flash. I then went out and checked my truck (2000 CC 4.7 Automatic) and I think I have the dreaded Death Flash. The P/N on the new sticker is 56040359AH - From what I've read the AH is BAD NEWS. Has anyone found a way of undoing the Death Flash without having to buy a new PCM. I hope someone out there has some good new for me.

Message: Good question, I would like to know also. I have 3 other questions too about the Death Flash. 1) Where do i find the PCM that has these stickers with the P/N Numbers etc.. on them? Are these reference numbers on a sticker on the PCM or elsewhere. 2) My second question is if you buy a new Dakota say a 2003, will the truck come from the factory with all of these updates includeing the Death Flash update already in the PCM? 3) Can the Leach Flash be done on new Dakotas like 2001+ or can he still only Flash up to 2000. And does he have a flash that can still be run on Reg. 87. I am not looking to race my truck and really don't want to buy 93 everytime i get gas, I just want a the power the truck should have before the death flash. thanks for all the help.

Message: The death flash does not come standard on dakotas. The death flash is used to cure serious engine problems by adjusting timing and what not. Mike Leach only does '00 4.7's. Other programs are in the works though or at least that is the rumor.

Message: thanks,
I thought that maybe since DC was having all these problems pinging that they just updated every PCM on the new trucks coming from the factory. Thank god they don't. Is there anyone that can tell me wehere to look for these reference numbers that tell you which PCM you have and if there is a update sticker#. Where are they located and on what. thanks
