I was just up on some steep logging roads in my '00 dakota slt ext'd cab 4.7L, and almost lost my life due to brake failure. I was not pushing the truck at all and had no load, after i put it into the bank there was brake smoke pooring from the front wheel wells. I just purchased the vehicle and was wondering if anyone else has had or seen this problem.

Yeah the brakes on the '00 Daks sucked. I've already replaced my oems with some after markets. I did this at 30k miles and I have 43K now. No problems so far. If you invest any money in your truck and you want good braking I suggest you do an SSB brake conversion. Go to trucktrenz.com. I think they have about the best deal.
