Subject: Tonneau Cover Choice... IP: Logged
Message: 2000 Dakota SLT
Hello, everyone...
Having looked and looked and read some thoughts here, and having a price range between $190-230 or so, here's the three soft ones I am interested in:
Extang Tuff Tonno III--Has the J45 strip instead of snaps.
Design Auto Group Tek Sport--has the sliding snap and padded aluminum frame.
Design Auto Tek Style--Has the side snaps and the frame clamps over the bed.
Does anyone out there have one of these, and what do you think? Any opinions on these from others, and what you would recommend?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David

Message: Well, it's not on your list, but I have the Extang full-tilt tonneau. Nice in the winter 'cause you can just take the entire frame off instead of unsnapping then leaving the tonneau off for the rest of the winter. I like it alot. FWIW.

This cover might be a little higher in the price range, but you get what you pay for. In my opinion, this is be the best cover out there...easy to remove, quiet, very durable, and it looks Awesome!

Message: Hey Dave I have the Extang Tuff Tonno III on my 02 Dak Quad. Cover is great except when it gets below 35 it's tough to get back on. The J45 strip works very well and the fit is perfect.

Message: I agree with roundboy. If you really want a tonneau cover, Go with a tilt cover. If you want, I have a used Extang cover, that I bought new in 1999, with snaps that I just took off that I would sell for $ 50.00. This way, if you do not like it , you can always get your $50.00 back and go to a full tilt like I did.
