I have a 99 Sport 5.2 liter. I disabled my daytime running lights by removing the wires from the DRL module connector that goes to the high beam headlight and the indicator on the instrument cluster and hooked those two together. No daytime running lights, high beam indicator works and the fog lights dont turn off when the high beams are turned on. Just have to make sure you tape the connection up good to prevent corrosion if you ever decide to return it back to normal. I used a chilton manual to get the correct wires.

Do you mean to say you have daytime running lights on a 99 dakota? Was that an option if so ignor the rest of this? If I didn't know better I would think you were breaking the law, and using the wrong terminoligy. If you disabled the system that turns off your fog lights when the brights are switched on, congratulations. Thats not a DRL a DRL is a system that turns your lowbeams, or an alternate set of lights on anytime the vehicle is running. Most states have a law agianst having high beams, and fog lights on at the same time. That is why Dodge designed the system that way. It's not a big deal, you aren't likely to get a ticket for it, but it is illegal in most states.

The truck is originally from canada, that is why the lights are on to begin with. My whole intent was not to make the fog lights stay on all the time. I only wanted to turn off the daytime running lights, which I did. The fog lights were just the result of taking the DRL module out of the circuit. I may be breaking the law but only if I do it while driving in the city with oncoming traffic. I don't mean to offend you but I like to think that I know what I am talking about when it comes to correct terminology. I'm not trying to upset any one.
