Which would you rather replace: a clutch that is designed as a wear item and is meant to be replaced periodically; or your transmission, which is not designed to be replaced periodically.
I would opt for using the clutch since I really don't enjoy paying to replace major vehicle components. But if you have cash burning a hole in your pocket and want to give it to a transmission shop, go for it. Your choice.
