Subject: Installing Mopar skid plates
IP: Logged

Message:
Anybody here purchase the Mopar skids and
install them themselves? I am wondering, can
you do it easily yourself, or does it require
welding? (I can drill, tap, etc., but not weld)...

Had the dealer install skids last time... want to
avoid installation fees if at all possible.

thanks in advance.

the prices are off 4adodge.com, so they are prob a little higher than they actually are, i was shopping around for them when i found them at the dodge site...... but they are steel, and dodge does make them(mopar). i havent priced them from a local dealer. not sure what it covers... go to 4adodge.com, select trucks, then dakota. then select & buy, then vehicle access... enter vehicle, select exterior, then you will see skid plates, and you can see a picture of them

Huh. I just checked 'em out.

Do they come with instructions? They look
nice. Those might be the ones I pick up.

I had the composite skids installed on my last
Dakota -- there was a full-length one they
installed that isn't shown at the Dodge site...
How is that?

I just went and checked it out and what are they showing in the picture of the Plates? Nothing like what my plates looked like or even close. Can even tell what they protect from that photo.

They have said they were making them out of steel but I never heard anyone ever say they were actually steel. The new ones could be though. If they are, FINALLY!

If they are made of steel maybe a BG on them? Or do you think shipping would be too expensive?
