3" aluminum tubing makes a neat intake between the throttle body and airbox. I was inspired by Darcy's clean setup. I made mine in two sections using Vibrant 2176 and 2173 tubes from an import tuner shop, Spectre boots and hose clamps. Only made one cut on each tube for a perfect fit; 3" off the curved section, and a 5 1/4" straight section. The performance increase was awesome. I'm using a K&N drop-in, with the snorkel inlet removed, radiator flap removed, and a Fernco P1002-44 4" inlet from Home Depot. Total cost was $120 ($160 counting the K&N filter). You can polish the aluminum to your heart's content. I tested it with the stock snorkel on, and the system even seemed quieter than the stock air hat w/ accordion tube! Without the snorkel, it sounds like an old 440 with the air cleaner removed, its pulling so much air. I put on the Fernco to trim the sound somewhat, but it still sounds tough when you stand on the gas. Couldn't be happier. I'll try to post a photo sometime. I was hot on the trail for a 20" section of straight 3" stainless steel when I found this alternative. I didn't have to get the pipe bent, and actually, the two separate pipes eases alignment. Plus, if I'm ambitious someday, I'll polish the INSIDE of the tubes!
