I know this is a forum for people who for the most part are happy with thier Dodge. I am sure alot of people will disagree but I need to talk about this. January of 02, I bought a new 02 Dakota extended cab. The 6-cylnder was weak compared to the two previous 6 bangers I had, but overall I liked my truck. After 6 months my air coditioner started leaking into my passenger floor. This was a well known problem so the dealer was cool and fixed it. They also put in new carpet padding the replace the old padding which had soaked up so much water it was an inch and a half thick. Four months later the driver side window stops rolling up and down and the passanger side starts sticking. The truck was returned to the dealer and the drivers side window motor was replaced. They told me the passenger window was replaced and it is even listed on the work order. After the passenger window began skipping again I had it checked by another dealer I learned the passanger side motor is the exact motor that came with the truck. Now we get to now. I am having a problem with my dodge tranny. Thay have had it since monday and thay "might" take a look at it today and if I am very lucky it will be ready friday, but most likely it will be ready at the end of next week. So basically I am spending $350 a month on a truck that is going to sit at the shop for two weeks. To make up for my broken down tranny, I am paying $45 a day for a rental. I only make about $90(after taxes) a day and half is going for a car that I would not need if my truck was atleast somewhat dependable. Could you live if half your income went to a rental car while you are still paying your normal car note. I will admit that I do drive alot of miles, but my truck is well taken care of and at a year and two months it does have 30k, but everything is under warranty and a new truck should not have this problem. Anyway just wondering if I got a bad truck? and why doesn't dodge have loaner cars for people with warranted trucks that are in the shop for extended amounts of time?.

Some dealers dogive loaners. Document everything. Get a hold of DC (this means going over the dealers head). Tell them about your problems. They are often more receptive than the dealers from what I understand.
