 Subject: tranny problem

i have a 97 4x4 v-8.it occasionally it seems to be stuck in 2nd or drive and doesn't shift.the check engine light comes on when this happens so i scanned it and got a code for "shift solenoid a" does anyone know what this is and how to fix it? thanks

i hate to tell you but the trannys in the dakotas are junk i have the same truck as you with a $3000 performance tranny in it still garbage but to solve your problem try replacing the governor solenoid and the pressure transducer both parts are available from kollerdodge.com they have the best prices trust me ive spent alot of time researching it the solenoid is $67 and the transducer is $47 or something like that it is a tricky install i would let a tranny shop do it unless you are good with a solder gun and have a lift thats how i did it anyway if you are interested in doing it i can find the exact part numbers for you email me at bassboy170@aol.com
