Subject: Lets talk weight! IP: Logged
Message: My RC '01 RT weighs 4,040lbs without me in it. From what I have seen on a few posts, this seems rather high. The only things added from the factory that add weight are two 8 inch Bazooka's, 1 large amplifier, and a trailer hitch. Why am I so much heavier?

Message: The 92-93s are the best ones to choose for that. I'd rather go wtih the '93 over the '92 only for the fact that '92 was teh first year of the new style. I typically dont go with those.

Curb weight for regular cab and short bed is 3042lbs
I guess its a little more for the V8

Message: Damn thats nothin. I'm jealous. Why'd they put so much weight on the new daks? We'd have better performance and better mpg if we still weighed as much as the 92's

Message: I guess when they tried to make them more purtifull. They also decided that it would take more weight to do so. Just do what I did to loose weight... I got a nice 4popper under my hood!
Of course that still won't help the power to weight ratio.

Message: I had a '92 RC 5.2/auto/3:55. Put 217K on it before a T-Bird totalled it. 7.6sec. 0-60 when new, always got 17.5mpg. Still miss 'er. '01 RC/4.7/5spd weighs 3759lb. w/o driver.

Message: My 2002 R/T CC weighed in at 4318 on the scale at the track. That was with me in (200+lbs)and just over 1/2 tank of gas..... but with the spare/jack and tailgate removed.
It's funny when people hear how much these trucks weigh. The stereotype them as "mini" trucks like the lightweight ranger and s10.
