I think it was 1988-1991, 1992-1996, 1997-2001

Go back one more year on the Gen 1 Dakotas. It starts at '87 instead of '88, Unless you want to count the 1987 models as the Introduction Year?

I'm pretty sure Gen II started in 91... the Gen I goes to 1990. In 1991 they introduced the 318 as a normal option, and they moved the front grille out. In 1992 they introduced the Magnum v8 engines. I say this because I had a 90 and wished we would have waited until 91 to get the newer body style and v8 engine =) Yes.. I have been driving Daks since 1990!
So, I am going to say:
Gen I 87-90
Gen II 91-96
Gen II 97-Present
sound ok?
