Subject: Headlight lenses

Message:
My 99 Dak has headlight lenses that are fogged/hazed out. Are they replacable? They look like they just clip on the main housing. Or is there a method to polish off the haze. Throw a brother a bone here.

Thanks in advance.

you have to replace the entire light... there is a group buy for some projector lights with clear corners... you can clean them up with some polish and rubbing compound from wal mart but it's best to replace them

remove the lens, being careful not to touch the bulb when you take it out. Use some hydrogen peroxide, pour it inside the lens until it covers just the clear glass, and let soak a couple of hours, and pour out. This will take off a lot (not quite all) of the haze inside. For the outside, use Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. I just did this on the '92 I just aquired, and it worked wonders.

You could also clean them out. I just did this on my '92, so I know it works. First, remove the lenses as you suggested, unclip them. Spray a little cleaner (greased lightning is great) in them, and rinse. Then put enough hydrogen peroxide in them to cover the glass part when it is sitting face down(don't get it on the inside chrome too much). Let that sit for 2-4 hours, and dump it out and rinse it. Let them dry real well before putting them back on the truck. Polish the outside with a compound, I used Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish. They are not new, but look great, especially compared to the yellow haze they had. GOOD LUCK!
