Subject: NOT selling my truck, selling my bike! IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys some of you may know that I was tempted to sell my r/t because of my new commute. Well rather then sell my truck I'm selling my bike.
It's a 2001 Champ Edition R1 in excellent shape. It's bone stock other than some xenon bulbs with just over 7k miles. Oil changed every 3k using redline, I'm also including an Arai Okada helmet (medium), a matching blue HJC helmet (small), along with a matching alpine stars dyno jacket. I'm going to post it on ebay but wanted to hit the forums first, I don't really want some chump to snatch up my bike. I'm asking 8k for everything.
Oh, I don't have pictures of the bike but here are some links to the exact bike/helmet/jacket
A shot of the champ edition,
this pic doesn't do it justice : o )
arai okada helmet
alpine
stars dyno jacket, I've got the blue one
I'm also including an HCJ blue helment in perfect condition, it's my wife's and does have vents and matches my r1's blue perfectly it's not one of the cheap crap HJC's, I'm located in Newark, DE.. if you don't try to bag me on the price I'll have it shipped anywhere in the us, I think it's about 250 using allied, anyhow I'll take care of it. If your within 100 miles of me I'll drive drive it over. Blue book puts it at 8900.00 and I'm including a thousand bucks in very high quality gear. Make me an offer!
Thanks guys!

Message: dont do it!
you are going to miss the bike sooo much! trust me. i sold my 2000 R6 when i bought my 2003 CC R/T because my parents were going crazy. they hated the bike, because i had a little "highside" accident. it was no big deal, i was fine, a little road rash. and the bike had about $1200 in damage. i fixed it up. im already putting $$$ away every week, so hopefully i can go shopping for another at this time next year.
now i miss it so much every time a see a bike on the road.
cant you do some commuting on the bike? i know i took mine to work whenever i could, it was a 30 min ride. and bikes are cheap on gas. but my bike also had 35,000 km on it when i sold it, lol

Message: heh believe me man it's the last thing I want to do, I dropped 1k just for a spot to get this bike.. which I forgot to mention above, there were only 1000 champ editions produced and only 800 came to the states... in the time that I've had it I've seen only ONE other champ edition R1.
Here is my logic on selling it. First my wife and I just had a baby, it's a first child for both of us and I'm crazy about him and would hate myself if I got into an accident or something and couldn't function like a normal human hah, second up until a year ago I lived in florida.. almost perfect roads, great weather, and a TON of 1k cc superbikes. Now I'm in delaware, HORRIBLY dangerous streets, huge pot-holes every mile, the weather is nasty AND to top it all off everyone around here that rides (that I've met anyhow) are punk jits that picked up a used CBR F3 or something so they could be "fast and furious" hehe so it's not my type of crowd.
The new job is in center-city philly, I found out last week I can get a montly train pass for 160 and the closest station is 5-10 minutes away so that solves the mpg problem with my R/T.

Message: I think that is the best move.
I am selling my vfr for similar reasons.
The champ edition is a little different than my 96 VFR. I went to cali last summer to watch the Lagoona Seca race and realized that they must have give away VFR's with a value meal at McDonalds. there were thousands of them! Parking lots full of nothing but my bike!
yours is at least unique. That must make it harder to get rid of.
That sucks that you can't comute on the bike, I lived for my ride home every day.
I think you are making the right move. You can alway get another bike later.
good luck
