Subject: On to the exhaust...

Well, i kinda got the upgrade bug and put on the speed grille and an Intense performance Z-Tube. The next move will be a catback system. I've narrowed the choice down to either the Gibson or JBA EVOL single. From what I have read they ar both only slightly louder than stock at idle.

How are they at full throttle? Cruising at around 65? Most importantly, which has the least amount of interior "drone".

Thanks for any help.

Not sure about Evol but the Gibson is damn quiet from what I understand. If the price is right you may want to check out Magnaflow as well. Magnaflow cat-backs are S.S. only though.

If you want quiet in the cab go with the Gibson. Just got done installing the Dual Sport system on my quad cab. Sounds great. Slightly louder than stock system, but plenty loud at tail pipes. Cruising can't even tell a difference.

I have the Gibson Swept-side on my '99 5.2, and it sounds great. It isn't objectionable at crusing speed, and sounds somewhat like an old Charger or Road Runner with the factory exhuast.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll to keep my eyes and mostly ears open while I research this one.

The Z-Tube definately makes it throaty, nice sound.

Hey I may be interested in the catback system. Is it stainless or Aluminized? Why'd you take it off? How much are you askin for it?

On the subject, does anyone have any pictures of a Gibson installed? I'm interested in a single or duel side swept, just want to see what it looks like installed if possible. Thanks.

I have the Gibson single out system on my '02 4.7

I love it. It's deep & throaty under acceleration but cruises quietly on the highway.

If you want loud, go with something else.

If you want a quality system with a powerful sound that doesn't drive you nuts on long rides, you can't go wrong with the Gibson set-up.

Installaton was about an hour in the driveway. Everything was included in the kit (except the tools, of course) ;)

Mine is a 4.7L 4X4. You have to remove the spare because it is tight. Then once you have the system on, put the spare back on. I purchased mine from power-usa.com. Paid $355.00 for the aluminized and in March they had free shipping. So I saved shipping and tax cause they are in CA and I'm in OH. If you do decide to go with this system from them they might honor the free shipping.

I installed the Gibson Dual Sport on my 3.9 last fall. It's sounds awesome at idle but is a little loud for my taste when driving. Everyone says that the Gibson is the quietest in the cab - if that's true, then I'd definitely stay away from other brands unless volume is what your all about.

I have the gibson duals on my truck and I love it (200 4.7). Very throaty but quiet in the cab, at least quiet enough that you can still have a conversation without problem at any speed / RPM.

My bud has a 98 with the 6 and he has the gibson single exhaust and he hates it. It resonates in the cab very badly.

I love mine, he hates his. Try to bum a ride with someone who has one.

Gibson states that the single is quieter than the dual. You can go on their website gibsonexhaust.com and they have sound clips and decibel differences between stock and theirs.

Or, you could just put a paper cup with the bottom knocked out of it over your ear, and make it sound different also.

That's all you're really getting as far as any performance gains, as far as the dyno says, without other big mods.

I guess that I like my money too much to get a possible loss in performance, for a different sound just by spending it.
