Message: Does anyone else have a high pitched tone in the cab? It starts in mine at or about 60-65 Mph, and will cut in and out as you continue to accelerate. It happens with the radio on or off, and is very annoying. Anyone have this happen to them?

Message: I had a tech drive with me, said it was tire noise. Happens at same speeds as you. Noise stayed when gas pedal released so i guess that rules out rear diff.(thats what he and mechanic at work said) Next set of tires will be Michelins.(sp)I do have a whine (PS pump, trans?) that is really bad when cold but dissipates when truck warms up.(annoying) Most noticeable at low speeds.
Hope this helps

Message: used to hear one all the time between 55mph and 70mph. Anytime the tach was between 1.5 and 2
The noise would go away if I pressed down on the throttle, or released the throttle. it only occurred when I was holding steady.
Then I replaced the GY RT/S tires with Cooper Discover STs and I haven't heard it since.
I'm not sure I can attribute it to tire noise, but I'm not a firm believer in "coincidence".
Michael
P.S. - The RT/S tires on the front only had about 10k left, and the back were close to being brand new. Maybe the discrepancy caused some stress in the system?

Message: My first thought was that it was tire noise, But It doesn't sound like it to me, It really sounds electronic to me. Almost like a hearing test, or when your ears are ringing. I'll see what the dealer says. Thanks

Message: I posted to the list a few weeks ago with the same problem. No one answered. Anyway, I have the same high pitch whistle on my '03, sounds like it's coming from under the bed, around the area of the gas tank.
Let me know what your dealer says, I'd be curious to hear what they say.
Thanks,
Greg

Message: I suppose It could be coming from the fuel pump, but if it is, It's something I'vew never heard come from a pump. I mean, I've heard all kinds of sounds from fuel pumps, like the jet-engine roar from a chevy truck. But I swear this is like your ears are ringing, In fact I played it off at first to just that, until my girlfriend rode in the truck and she heard it too. Unfortunately Its gonna be tough to get oiut and listen to the pump at 60 MPH :)

Message: I may know what this tone your talking about is.
Have 00 QC, and the high pitched buzz starts about 55 to 60 and I realized it increased if a gust of wind occurred any time over 55. I beat on the dash and everywhere else and finally figured out the plastic cowl around the wipers was rattling against the top of the cowl and
windshield area above the firewall. I removed the fasteners and installed some double sided foam tape and it appears it may have gone away. This vibration caused the mirror , the wheel, and the gas pedal to vibrate. Post your results, good luck.
