Subject: new trany for my 93 V8

Hello all i'm looking for a new transmission for my 1993 V8 dakota. It has had two A-518's in it. it has 340k on it but the motor still runs good. I need to no what all transmissions and what years will fit it other then A-518's?

i,m assuming it,s 2wd. any 727 from a small block car or truck. you,ll need to lenghten the drive shaft and make or move trans mount. the a518,s are about 6inchs longer.

try www.smr.com they rebuild 518,s for drag racing,street etc. very nice to talk with and knowledgeable.

ya it's 2 wheel drive. The Torque Converter on a 727 is smaller then on the A-518 and I could buy a brand new TCI Streetfighter transmission for the price it would cost me to put a 727 in my self. buy the time I lenghten the drive shaft and get the linkage right I could have just boght A brand new trany. I'm talcking like if the A-618, 46RH or the 46RE would work the ones that are the same size. Thank you very much for the reply vern. I will check out the people at www.smr.com
