My 95 Dakota 3.9 ext. cab gas gauge just started this hunting thing. It goes up and down, never staying in one spot. 2 weeks ago when I shut it off and started it again, it would go to empty and if I tapped the gauge, it would come back. Anyone have any ideas what's goin on?

sounds like a lose wire... poss a bad ground... not sure though... might want to take the guage cluster apart and check the connections.

This was a common problom on the trucks of those years. It is a bad sending unit. Mine did the same thing and that is what was replaced. No probloms since.
