Message: no offense but i got my 03 dakot for 500 under invoice from a friend for 24500= tax and license total was 26500, that was with the 2000 dollar dealer rebate--there is no way you will get a CC r/t for 22,500. Blue book for used 2002 r/ts are 22,000....and a dealer aint gonna loose money...the asking price for my truck was 31,900....also go to carsdirect.com and punch in the price for a loaded CC r/t 2003 and you will see it at around 25-27k dollars-but maybe you are right....but im pretty sure your not...MIGHT be able to get a regualar cab mildy optioned for 22500 out the door...but definatley not a CC loaded R/T...do some more research bro~Ken

Message: You both are right in a way. You can get a CC R/T new for $22,500 but buy the time you load it up with leather, infinity, ABS, etc it makes it cost about $24,500 as you said. There are actually $2,500 rebates in my area and anyone can get an additional $500 off by joining the farm bureau for $40. That would make a new fully loaded CC R/T cost about $24,000 at my dealer with his $300 over invoice pricing. That said, once you drive it off the lot don't expect to get any where near what somebody else can easilly get one for new. I just finally sold my 2000 R/T which only had 19,000 miles on it and was perfect except it had 19,000 miles on the stock tires. I ended up getting $9500 for it. It was a low option RC R/T but it was the rare for 2000 Solar Yellow. That was what kelly blue book listed as the "trade in price" I may have been able to get another $1000 if I would have held on to it for 1/2 the summer but there is no way even dealers get the kelly blue book retail on used cars. If you look at the small print KBB syas the retail is the price dealers are ASKING for a model, but we all know most dealers will knock a good $2000 off the asking price on the spot. The current used car market is so much of a buyers market right now it's just silly. A dealer will probably give you $19,000 for it if they found absolutely nothing wrong with it, $20,000 may still be a little low but really that may be a pretty good offer w/o going through the trouble of advertising and fielding calls form every 17yo looking for joyrides in the bay area.
Good luck with however it goes, no matter what happens you will be far better off in the long run with a house. They actually go up every month rather then down like a truck! I had to take a hit selling my first Dakota, a 93 5.2, in the bay area when we were buying our first house up in Eureka, Ca. It took me 6 years and another house bought before I could afford a Dakota again. At least by that time they had finally got the R/T package out. By the time you come back around to buying a Dakota they should have Hemis or SRT packages!

Message: Not doubting what the window stickers sez at all. My window sticker for my truck was way higher than what I paid for it. I have not and will not pay the sticker price for any vehicle. That is an incredible mark up and dealers that know you and consider you their freind will tell you that (I have one). Buying a New car (or even a used one sometimes) comes down to your barganing ability and what the dealer has invested in it. Such as at dealer ships in the country, say Louisiana will have a sticker price of $24,500 for a Fully loaded R/T. One in California has an Identical vehicle with a sticker price of $29,500. It didn't cost more to build the California Model or to ship it, but the Country dealer has to deal with Shrude Farmers and Country Boys and not loaded yuppies and there spoiled kids that have no sense of value to sell them.
Good luck with selling your truck. And My truck is a fully loaded Sport Plus and I paid under $20,000 for it Brand New, Custom Ordered to Germany. And the List price for it was nearly $25,000.
