Subject: Brake bleeding IP: Logged
Message: We have an 87 2wd Dakota that we replaced the rear shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and emergency cables. After all that, we tried to bleed the brakes but no brake fluid goes to the rear lines. We noticed the rear Height Sensing Valve was leaking fluid, so we replaced that with a new one. We went to bleed again, but still no fluid to the rear wheeels. Has anyone had this problem and know what the solution is?

Message: Valve opens more as body height lowers, simulating more weight. You don't have the truck supported by the frame with the axle hanging, do you ? You could disconnect linkage from truck and pull down to fully open the valve and see if that helps.

Message: Thanks. We don't have the rear axle hanging. Do you think that if there is no load, that there is not supposed to be any fluid in the rear lines? If that is the case, then the valve is working properly, but doesn't that mean the rear brakes don't work if there is no load? How do they come up with these ideas?
