Subject: check engine light IP: Logged
Message: i have a 98 dakota sport w/ a 3.9 V6...its got about 25,000 miles on it and was recently servied byt the dealer for automatic transmission, engine tune up and electrical tune up...now all of the sudden this check engine light wont go off...??? i looked it up in the owners manual..it says its a problem with emissions, engine or automatic transmission??? so leaves me with emssions..but i also just passed state emission testing less than 4 months ago...i have a gibson split rear exhaust on it...anyone know what the problem may be????

Message: The same thing happened to my '97 Dakota with the 3.9 V-6. Took it to my dealer and found that the catalytic converter was bad. The light never came on again after it was changed.

Message: My 97's came on after I added headers, high flow cat, flowmaster duals...I reset the PCM and it has yet to come back on. Sometimes they might trip something when you add aftermarket products.
